Anchored for the night in Veasey Cove at the Mouth of the Bohemia River. On Saturday morning, the starting battery was dead, and the house was too low to start the engine. I practiced violin, Carl scrubbed the waterline, and the kids swam while we waited for Tow Boat US (insurance worth its weight in gold). By 9, we were underway and headed for the Chesapeake Delaware Canal.

Minty Goes Home
Minty was a baby praying mantis that we found among the mint (our egg cases have not hatched yet) and kept for a few days. Today Minty returned to the garden but was not too anxious to leave. Minty appeared to be studying us as much as we had him/her.
Avocado Nursery
The first pit, which was planted in soil, sprouted on Earth Day. We planted a second pit in soil the same day. The water treated pit sprouted on June 3, about 6 weeks after the first, and the sprout on the second soil pit appeared 2 days later. Its not scientifically conclusive. The first one could have been a growth challenged pit to begin with.
Ginger Root Growth Experiment
Some web sources promote burying the rhizome others recommend surface placement, so we had 2 treatments to test and 4 samples: each pair matched according to the relative size of the piece of rhizome (i.e., S, M, L, & Tiny, which are both in one pot).
