We have been delighted to entertain Tudy during her tour of the
mid-Atlantic. She has been a wonderful guest and an enthusiastic traveler.
She integrated into the family easily: warmly greeting our pet beta fish
Jupiter and laying track with our Thomas trains. She even volunteered to
support her cousin Mystic during a routine veterinarian appointment. Her
presence really helped calm and reassure our golden retriever.
She enjoyed some relaxing excursions to beaches on the Severn and Potomac
Rivers, climbed trees to explore some interesting bird house sculptures, and
examined the efficiency and beauty of an green roof installation. She even
got cozy with some Chesapeake blue crabs at a floating waterfront fish
market.
After refreshing her energy in the natural environment, Tudy was ready to
take on DC. She headed straight to Capitol Hill to lobby Congress. Her
priorities focused on legislation requiring organic bones, more comfortable
harnesses, and fair elections for pack leaders. Interactions with both
houses of Congress proved frustrating and exhausting--even for a
well-seasoned endurance racer. Tudy mutter vaguely that Congressmen should
be required to pick-up after themselves like responsible pet owners. She was
clearly ready for some down time, so we turned our attention to sightseeing.
Tudy enjoyed learning about indigenous means of transport at the National
Museum of the American Indian. She leaped joyfully across the Tidal Basin to
experience the Jefferson Monument just before the peak of cherry blossom
season. Along the Potomac waterfront, she was briefly menaced by a giant
coy, but managed to sprint away and enjoy a peaceful moment at dusk,
dockside at the Presidential Yacht Sequoia.
After the excitement of DC, Tudy welcomed the opportunity to get back to
things that were more familiar. She was invited to lead our local team in
the first-ever, annual Chesapeake Iditamud Slide. Her experience proved
invaluable, and she led our team to smashingly mushy victory. Unfortunately,
she was the only member of the team with clean enough paws to handle the
camera, so she is behind the lens in the photo capturing the team's
exuberant victory dance. Nevertheless, her leadership was recognized and
celebrated throughout the community, and she was honored to be named
"Pooch-of-the-Month" at Bean Rush Café.
Thank you again for sharing Tudy with us. We love her. She has enriched our
lives immeasurably.
