Drove in with Mom, Dad, and the kids. Mom and the kids frolicked on the beach. Dad and I hike in with PFDs, paddles, lots of mosquito protection, and a kayak trolley (jit in K, according to Reece)--through the 4-Wheel track, across the dunes, along the surf, and into the gauntlet (mosquito alley). Met a herd of a dozen or so ponies between the beach and the campground--one proprietary stallion and his brides. The ladies sauntered along as we rounded the bend, but HE stood his ground, emphasizing his dominance odiferously with a load of new fertilizer directly in our path before choosing, of his own accord, to relocate. Eventually, we arrived at the campsite and the lagoon side marsh to find both kayaks still securely tied and loaded with gear--no one took the 35 year old tent or the trash! The paddle back was reasonably challenging into a moderate Northwest breeze and headlong current, but only took a bit of determination. It was just a keep-up-your-momentum (not an enjoy-the-scenery) type of ride.
