Announcing the First Annual Samambaia on the Severn Art Extravaganza: "Rivers & Tides"--July 25

What do you see?

  • A. Contours.
  • B. Waves.
  • C. The twists and turns of a life well and fully lived along side the shadow of paths not pursued.
  • D. A mummified escapee from a past pasta dinner recovered under the dining chair of a less than fastidious 4 year old.
  • E. All of the above.
  • Does it really matter?

    We are setting out to explore that question in this impromptu extravaganza.

    Resident and visiting artists are encouraged to submit, but installations must meet the following criteria:

    • Address this year's theme: "Rivers & Tides: Make it Gold(s)worthy";
    • Be completed and available for viewing on site (in the case of permanent installations) on the afternoon of July 25; and/or
    • Captured and displayed on this blog using video or still photography (particularly relevant to transient installations).

    Entries will NOT be judged (although purchases and commissions are encouraged). Participation will be nominally rewarded, but the pieces are intended to be undertaken and appreciated individually and as a whole as efforts to inspire, encourage, and expand our creative aesthetic (and also because its just a whole heck of a lot of fun).

    We LOVE Andrew Goldsworthy! Zach went through a whole Rivers & Tides thing this winter. Sounds like fun!

    We've seen R&T several times, but the nephews and nieces had not until the other night. Its amazing what potential you can find when you are inspired. We are having a blast.
