An operetta, but not exactly opera over easy; this was not light fare for breakfast theatre. A friend got us the tickets. It was not exactly what she was expecting; she has only seen their productions of Peter Pan and Dr. Doolittle. It was still a successful outing. The kids understood the mood (maybe the tears streaming down my face clued them in), but did not grasp the meaning of the darkest parts (readings of poetry written by children of Terezin who were later transferred and gassed at Auswitz). They enjoyed the operetta. Afterward, we headed to swimming lessons.
